PROXIMITY SCALE: SITE OF PROJECT
Inside the study site there are two sites: Piazza del Mercato that marks in a longitudinal direction, the access to the internal perimeter of Borgo Antico, in the East from the Norman Tower and from Piazza Castello and in the West from Piazza Regina Margherita; the urban voids of the Duomo (very important for the access to the central and internal parts of Borgo Antico and characterized by the high urban degradation of the pre-existing building) and of Largo Monastero Vecchio: an area delimited by the pre-existing building of the Borgo Antico, with an access through three pedestrian arches and with an high orographical slope.
Programmatic intentions: site of project Piazza del Mercato: underground parking and cultural services in the basement of the Norman Tower. System of urban voids: rehabilitation of the public spaces, including the historical buildings, with services and experimental housing.
