Firenze
URBAN SCALE: STUDY SITE
Le Piagge is a modern district located in the western outskirts of Firenze, in the area bordered by Via Pistoiese, the river Arno, the old cemetery of Peretola, the municipal border with Campi Bisenzio and of the former municipality of Brozzi. The hasty zoning during the Eighties generated a district distant from the historical neighbouring ones, with anomalous road systems and with no services at all. Along the whole southern side, the territory of Le Piagge is blocked by a railway viaduct which almost completely precludes the perception and the use of the river.
Programmatic intentions: urban scale
By following the guidelines of DeCarlo project: upgrading of the landscape potentialities of the area; allocation of attractive functions; extension of spaces for recreational sports; environmental rehabilitation; solving of the problem of the embankment, the railway viaduct and the river, now inaccessible and invisible.
