URBAN SCALE: STUDY SITE
The northern sector is involved into the infrastructural works for TAV/TAC which have progressively and heavily modified the urban aspect of this piece of municipal territory. The strategy of the new Town Master Plan aims to upgrade the valued places of the town, by transforming and qualifying them into Poles of Excellence. Among them, on the north, the mediopadana railway station of the TAV-TAC (high-speed rail network) that is a real challenge for the town: a chance to realize the main gate to the town, to redefine the relationship between the northern area and the inner town and to establish new functions correlated with the intermodality.
Programmatic intentions: urban scale
At
first, the project must be in a territorial and architectural relation
with the Mediopadana railway station, the only stop of the high-speed
rail between Milan and Bologna, which represents one of the main and
real chances to include the town into a wider scale and European
context. Equally important is the relation both with the productive
area of Mancale and with the adjacent environment and landscape.
Besides,
the project should look for solutions of integration into the existing
conurbation: the Trade Fair, the industrial pole of Mancasale, the
toll-house, the sports area of Giglio, the Reggiane area and so on,
reaching a relation with the inner town and the university. To realise
that, it should have to encourage the improvement of all the existing
and under project relations, able to generate synergies of functions,
physical connections, qualitative and environmental features
representing the premise for the rehabilitation of the whole northern
section of the town. For this purpose, some future functions should
involve accommodating facilities, offices, commerce and services to
the industry.
