PROXIMITY SCALE: SITE OF PROJECT
The urban fabric marginal to the railway expands along the coast, from Corso Gelone up to the industrial site of Targia. The seacoast includes consolidated fabrics of environmental importance, consolidated fabrics of the contemporary town, new areas mainly for residential use, areas for district facilities, areas of natural and archaeological importance. Due to its wideness, four perceptual areas have been identified and define four important topics: the northern access (site A, former abattoir); the connection to the public spaces (site C, Mazzarrona); the areas for sports and leisure (site B, S. Panagia; site D, Grotta Santa).
Programmatic intentions: site of project
Rehabilitation of the former abattoir and implementation of the access to the coastal park with service facilities. Implementation of temporary housing, even for tourism, and services. Rehabilitation of the areas along the railroad and on its margins. Increase of pedestrian mobility.
